Today is the First Day of the Rest of My Summer

I have been inspired by the bloggings of the creative (writing) genius known as The Duke of Funk. Maybe someday he'll show me how to link to his blog from mine, but for now, you'll just have to wonder to whom I'm referring.
I thought maybe I would blog about books and movies, since that might be more interesting to others out there. But then I also told myself I need to start journaling more about my work and the things I do in my daily life, which might be less interesting to others but vastly more necessary for my own reflection.
Luckily for me, these are not mutually exclusive and movies/books make up a great deal of my daily life. So I can combine and let any readers I may accumulate pick and choose which they find more entertaining.

One of the greatest perks of being an educator is having the summers off. After my first year as Miss Stacey, School Counselor, I desperately needed some time off. What a year it has been. I think I'll wait for a future post to sum up the craziness that has been the 2007/2008 school year.
Now that I've recovered both from 9 months with junior high students and Psittacosis (also a future post) I find that I'm officially bored. I'm optimistic that blogging might be a useful way to curb my boredom and maybe even do the same for readers - even if its just me rereading what I wrote.

Well, that's all she wrote for now. As promised, there will be future posts popping up soon about some interesting events that have occurred this year along with the interesting and uninteresting multimedia entertainment I have observed.

Now I am off to get my latest addiction: a Strawberry Surf Rider Jamba Juice. Wow, does that sound yuppy-ish. Maybe I'll just go for a cola slurpee instead...
